We start our week off with a bit of news as we expand our reach by adding new innovation to our company.
Our HUGELY successful Sun Believable Solar Giveaway is coming to the end of Season One with our last weekly draw taking place on 01 March 2024 literally 24 hours prior to the much anticipated Main Draw on Saturday 02 March 2024.
This has been an ambitious undertaking that is second to none. We are currently assessing and researching but to date we believe this is the largest Solar competition to be run by any company and the interaction has been phenomenal.
We thank all our supporters, volunteer promoters and just plain good people for having fun and spreading the name of Sun Smart Solar to all corners of South Africa.
We have had winners from 4 provinces which is great and through this we have also taken in 19 bookings in total. Whilst not the point of it really, it does show that we could possibly do this kind of promotion throughout the year and it would be worth the marketing budget.
SUN SMART SOLAR X POWER CHAT
Sun Smart Solar has become a sponsor of Power Chat, the new online portal about to launch this week that will see a new and exciting platform become THE AUTHORITY for renewable energy information, products and informative articles.
They have a number of developments but a quite unique and possibly industry disruption was to create a space where BOTH installers and customers will be reviewed. It is an interesting spin on the entire review process which sees installers take heavy beatings where the customer has often also played a role in a relationship going sour.
Our opinion is that it is important to have this in place as this industry is a highly charged and emotional transaction and solar is still labelled a "grudge purchase".
They will also be using Youtube and X to create user engagement and have a number of high profile interviews with industry leaders in place.
They are already developing a second phase of the project of adding a technical department that for a fee will be available to end users and installers to maintain, monitor and troubleshoot issues with current systems.
We are one of the four brands to commit with the platform from its launch and we are honoured to be part of such an exciting project.
SUN SMART SOLAR launches Learning Academy
This week will also see the launch of The Sun Smart Academy. This project stems from our very own need to employ suitably skilled staff in order to support the demand for our products and services.
Sun Smart decided to approach a few community outreach programs and form a partnership to use recommended candidates who have gone through rehabilitation and support programs with these excellent organisations.
Our goal is to train, upskill and certify these candidates in order for them to pursue sustainable jobs in the renewable energy sector. This would be through providing them employment ourselves and therefore supporting our own needs or placing them in positions at other companies within the industry.
Our application to SETA was approved and upon receipt of the final documentation we will launch the Sun Smart Academy.
This will be a fully practical course with some limited theory based on our very own manuals that are drawn from a decade of experience.
This is a completely free program. Our only caveat is that we are part of the selection process and that female participants must be included at every opportunity. That is it in terms of entry "requirements". This is for ANYONE without any prejudice based on ANY other factor.
As a small business we are not a large corporate with funds, that would otherwise go to SARS, to create a massive program but we believe this could be a small step in creating a movement that others may follow.
We aimed very high at the end of last year with a goal to create 50 jobs in 2024.
We intend to do that.
Supporting our company will now mean that percentages of all income will go into creating sustainable jobs for once homeless men and woman.
We have our first 5 candidates already enrolled and starting from the 01 March 2024. That's 10% only but it's a big step for us to take.
SUN SMART SPACES
Our new green project being heading up by our new employee who will be announced this week.
We have designed and created a green living space from shipping containers which is not new but we are going a step further and creating entire villages that are COMPLETELY off grid - Power, water and sewerage!
The entire space uses solar and energy storage, every unit has a complete water filtration system that is designed to filter water to required drinking standards from any natural source like dams, rivers, boreholes or wells.
The sewerage needs have been taken care of by new products heavily promoted in Australia and Europe which sees sewage not just compostable but designed to use only 10% of the water required of a normal household.
This project has been in the making for over 18 months and we have loads planned including mobile medical operating theatres which can be placed ANYWHERE and run independently without the need for the grid or a municipal water source.
The above was a massive reason that we moved our warehousing needs to a logistics company and allowed ourselves the freedom to choose space that is suitable to meet the requirements of this new division.
